hi jean,
your 'joke' note was probably based on this genuine one i found on this "closed" auction ebay (don't worry seb, just F.Y.I. being used here):

You're working really hard here.

It's funny how wrong you can be. I thought this design was unconvincing, but indeed here it is !

hi PN,
found another site with essentially the same answer i gave jean:

Link (http)

did she just give the image of the back of the bill or both? i think she will be convinced the bills are bogus now.

This proves that it's not "United States Currency", which is not surprising at all as it is not in Volume 2 of the Krause catalogue of paper money.

But it could be some other kind of financial instrument with a value for collectors. Mortgages are never mentioned on banknotes.

I have put a note on the French website asking for their opinion on this to help Cousin(e) Jean.

It probably is just a fantasy item, however.

hola motto,

these bills were discussed in length on this thread and they are indeed fakes. and not real u. s. currency. i believe they were created as a 'joke' or 'funny money' for the early years ( 1930's) of the economic depression our country was in. many such u.s. dollars exist that are not legal tender in our country. i hope this answers your question.

amities,
cajunsr.

here is a link that shows the only genuine u.s. 'silver' certificates in one-dollar denominations only. no 1 million dollar notes ever existed. :znaika:
