Yes, Ahar, you have to be warned that Evelyne does not actually seem to be there. I am new too. But you will soon hear stories about how delcampe staff disappear suddenly without reason, and no reason is ever given. Pascal and Luke are names that come up. It's what the Americans call "extraordinary rendition", and if it doesn't actually go over our airspace, we can't do much about it. Nobdoy knows where they go or what happens to them .

Hi All,
I joined delcampe on the 11th Feb and posed a question to delcampe staff by email on the same day after reading on their site that it was delcampe's intention to introduce a third party to hold funds for moneybookers until the buyer had received the goods that they had purchased and paid for using moneybookers.[ Similar to ebay and their new paypal restrictions.Copy below

Will there be a "trusted third party"?
>
> Yes. This matter has already been discussed with MB. It will
> be the next major improvement of the E-Wallet. This third
> party will receive the buyer's money, notify the seller and
> send the money to the seller only when the buyer has received
> the item.

I received a reply 9 days later on 20th Feb. from one 'Mario' saying that they had never considered doing that at all!
Strange response considering that I had read it after trawling through all the sections on delcampe about methods of payment.

:veryhappy:On a brighter note, I have now bought my first few items on delcampe and found it to be very easy and very satisfactory and I am sure that this site will go from strength to strength especially if a quicker response to members queries can be organised.

hi ruggleslurp,
that sounded like a scammer posing as one of the delcampe team and trying to use moneybookers as a way to get your money before the goods were sent. a good thing you did not fall for the scheme. i am retired from the usps and was trained by the postal inspectors for many things. so i get a lot of bogus emails from ebay, paypal, banks, and others and have learned these guys use very inventive techniques to pry open your wallet and bank accounts. if you ever have any doubts as to the authenicity of an email, contact delcampe directly. you can also contact them about moneybooker questions on the moneybooker forum where the moneybooker moderator will answer your questions like a magic genie. (i say that with humor as you may have to rub your feet first to get him there. his appearances are scarce. :wink2:) i for one do not use moneybookers, only PAYPAL. and have had no problems with payments through them.

Hi cajun-the information thus is on the delcampe page about 'E Wallet'

Will there be a "trusted third party"?

Yes. This matter has already been discussed with MB. It will be the next major improvement of the E-Wallet. This third party will receive the buyer's money, notify the seller and send the money to the seller only when the buyer has received the item.

I emailed using the link to delcampe and got a reply from delcampe so it is not a scam.
It would appear that delcampe staff are unaware of what is on the delcampe pages. Have a look for yourself at Link (http)

paypal is bad enough!

hi ruggleslurp,
i hate to burst your MB bubble but this 'electronic wallet' is just another name for a delcampe moneybooker account, that's all. it is essentially the same as a regular MB account with a special link to delcampe. i don't know what 'third party' you are referring to? it is the same plan as PAYPAL, only you pay MB instead with their fee structure. it may work fine for europeans, but it does not do very good for americans. the fees as a seller to recieve my money were outrageous when i used them. that is why i am using PAYPAL as i always have. it don't take long for cajun to stay away from a hornet's nest when he is stung. :censored::angryfire::wink2:

Hi, Ruggleslurp!

I see now what you were mentioning a while ago with our private messages. This is an old announcement from last year and this 'third party' program has not started.

I for one would not like this third party set up and reconsider my use of the e-wallet if it were to start.

MB has been fine for me--the fees are much lower than PP--and transferring money between MB and my bank account has not been an issue; it's exactly like PP.

Anyway, hopefully this 'third party' issue has been left by the wayside and Delcampe is going forward with the e-wallet and MB without it.

bonjour alan et tout,

well y'all, i will stick to the tried and proven PAYPAL. MB shafted me long ago and cajun don't like it one bit. :angryfire: their communication was insulting, uncooperative, and very poor with understanding the situation. and from what i read on the moneybooker forum blogs, they ain't changed their attitudes. thanks, but no thanks, cajun will just stay with his status quo. when moneybookers quits lying to its customers like they did me, then maybe i will use it. :rules:

hi ruggleslurp,
as for this 'third party' system, PAYPAL has had a system where you get a 'buyers protection plan' for an extra fee. the seller must follow certain rules such as send the item by a trackable carrier and such if i am correct. but just the same, the customer has the option from me to choose registered mail if they want it. it certainly will cost extra. having this 'third party' is no guarantee of delivery of goods, is it? perhaps this is why it could not be implemented by moneybookers. would 'lloyds of london' insure your packages? can delcampe insure them? probably not. these options are really best left between the seller and the buyer. and if insurance is available from the postal service, then one should ask about it, before bidding. :znaika::wink2:

Sorry, Brian-Kevin, while coveting your lovely red bus, I extraordinarily renditioned your name too ! That probably wasn’t a very sensible thing to do .
