Hi Randy,

I believe that we will have to bear with the situation in hand for the moment.

Peak hours are still a nightmare, but the site is responding better to "ping" commands testing its response time.

I read in other threads that Delcampe is aware of the problem and that they are trying to resolve it.

Since the last slow..sloooow day last week, which was due to a database overflow problem, the site has improved, slightly.

I asked a contact at Google what database overflow meant and got a nice laugh. He stated that the cure to that would not be easy...or fast.

I am hanging on to the use of Delcampe and have started telling people that the site is so popular that it gets too many users (Which is true).

So far that simple explanation has helped retain interest in the website.

Stefano

Hello
I could not access the site at all this morning between 8.15 and 8.45am (British Summer time)
Surely this is not a peak time?
Best wishes
James

hi james,
i just logged on here in the states, and on this forum. and it took almost 2 minutes to get from a blank screen to the reply screen. the system is still very slow on cable too. of course it could be the forum responses are on a different server too. i'm sure seb and the crew will look into this problem. we have to remember that many of the delcampers are back from vacation too. and probably very active now on the site earlier than usual, so the peak hours might change. it is like the weather my friend. it is hurricane season for us in florida, and you know we are certainly keeping a vigil. take care ol' man. don't worry so much. you will get gray hairs like me. :D

amities et a bientot,
cajunsr.

Hello Bill.

Thanks for your reply.

The main point I think is that several other Auction Sites have quick "No Problem" access at all times of the day. Or so I find.

As sellers we want buyers to be able to find our items at all times, once they experience long waits, such as - "almost 2 minutes" they just will no be bothered to try Delcampe again

You say that Seb and the crew will look into the problem - We have been told this since June, but the problem still persists

Sincerely .... james

hi james and others,
i hear what you're saying. as i have been absent from the forum for some months and unable to express my opinions, i have still been able to use the site to do business. and i have not had too many major problems adding my meager offerings. but then i am not a volume dealer by any means. i am just a small seller, a philateliest only selling his duplicates to support his hobby. i don't make a living at this. but delcampe does and yes, he should be worried if the feedback is very negative. but i also feel he is doing the very best he can with the resources he has available to meet the growing demand of a increasing membership. and to do this without raising fees, that is a very daunting task. i reiterate, when i joined delcampe this was a free site not like ebay. and there was no forum, and very few frills, bells, and whistles. so what you see now is so much more than what was here over 6 years ago. and people tend to forget that. and i guess i did too. and the forum brought out a lot of anger, as it surely can do when things don't work properly. trust me, no machine is well oiled and perfect. not even ebay. if it is, then you are sure as hell going to pay for it. delcampe may not be a mercedes benz for now, but it is a better alternative to ebay hands down. at least for selling my stamps. y'all have a good evening et bonne nuit.

amities,
cajunsr.

You Mistake anger for fustration
i too have embraced this sight and promote it no end Before i started I asked if this site could accommadate my listings I was assured by Luke that My meager 30,000 listings was not a problem and delcampe had much bigger dealers than me. So i payed my Gold Fees and went on my mary way listing and will slog it out a while longer but 'not' to voice my concerns will onely leave a impression that all is well. My buyers are telling me other wise. A squeaky wheel will get the oil

hi randy,
hmmmm, things is mighty fast this morining. did the wheel get some of that grease or did cajun's vaseline work? :D i was an ex-army medic too from vietnam, now retired army. saw one of my german cousins bought a card from you, estahl. a super nice guy and great customer. my granddad was german ancestry. a real squarehead and i often converse with them on the forum here. and i see you is in ky. i was just through there in sep. 2005 with my son on the way to fort carson. we stopped at ft. campbell early in the morning to see if we could stay at the guest house but it was full, so we drove on through. got a friend who is in AFSEC (armed forces stamp exchange club) who lives in clarkesburg. beautiful country up there. don't worry about delcampe, your sales are sure to pick up soon. the bugs and glitches will be worked out by seb's team eventually. he ain't never let me down yet and i am member #301.

later gator,
cajunsr.
